Our first parcel of land was a gift from Tedesco Builders in 1975, a five acre inner quadrangle behind houses
they were building off Bunker Hill Road.
Next came a donation in 1978 from Kathleen Navin. This 4+ acre parcel with a right of way is located
along Steele Brook off Northfield Road near Merriam Lane.
In 1979 Raymond Antonacci decided to donate 17 acres off Litchfield Road, accessed by a right of way across
from Hidden Pond Drive.
In 1991 we received our largest parcel, a gift from Conrad Fleisher of 36 acres bounded by Northfield Road
and Smith Pond Road. With well-marked trails and two sturdy bridges, this property has become a popular place to walk.
In 1998 Elizabeth Humeston donated 5 acres of land fronting on Linkfield Road, including shorefront property
on Smith Pond.
We received two small parcels in 2000. One is a 1 and 1/2 acre lot bounded by Linkfield Road and Franson
Road donated by Ruth Getsinger. The other lot, also 1 and 1/2 acres, is located on Charter Oak Drive.
In the fall of 2003, the Land Trust accepted its first conservation easement, a 6 acre meadow in northern
Watertown. The family has retained ownership of the land but has given up development rights in perpetuity.
In 2004, we acquired 26 acres off of Bunker Hill Road. The Tedesco Trail is a beautiful hiking
trail that can be accessed from Aunt Olive Road.
On April 28th, 2007 we dedicated the formal opening of the Florence Crowell Trail at Willowbrook development.
In total, as of April, 2007, we now protect a total of 168 acres in Watertown.
